The short answer

Oncallz is a good PagerDuty alternative if what you use PagerDuty for is schedules, escalations and getting a human on the phone. It costs $4 per user a month against PagerDuty's $21 to $41 (billed annually).

It is not a like-for-like replacement for PagerDuty's wider platform: AIOps, runbook automation, a large native integration catalogue and enterprise procurement features are where PagerDuty is stronger.

How much does PagerDuty cost?

PagerDuty's incident management plans start at $21 per user a month billed annually, or $25 month to month. These are the list prices as of September 2026, per pagerduty.com/pricing:

PagerDuty also sells "PD Reliability Platform" bundles priced per year: Starter at a $2,800 platform fee (10 seats), Essential at $12,000 (20 seats), Plus at $48,000 (40 seats) and Ultimate at custom pricing. Oncallz has one price: $4 per user a month, billed quarterly ($12 per user every 3 months).

What does a team of 10 pay?

A 10-person on-call rotation costs $40 a month on Oncallz, against $210 to $490 a month on PagerDuty's paid plans.

To be fair to PagerDuty: its price includes SMS and phone calls. With Oncallz you add your own Twilio or Vonage usage, billed by them at their rates — check their pricing for your countries and alert volume. PagerDuty add-ons (status pages, AIOps) would add to its side.

How do you move from PagerDuty to Oncallz?

Plan for an afternoon per team, not a one-click import. Oncallz has no PagerDuty importer: you recreate schedules and escalation policies, then re-point your alert sources. Keep PagerDuty running until the new setup has paged someone for real.

  1. Invite your team

    Invite users from the web app. Each person verifies a phone number so SMS and calls can reach them.

  2. Recreate teams and schedules

    Create teams in the web app, then rebuild each schedule: rotation type (daily, weekly, every N days or several shifts a day), participant order and hand-off time. Add upcoming overrides. Schedules and participants can also be created through the REST API with a personal API token, which helps when you have many.

  3. Rebuild escalation policies

    Each step has a delay and a target — the current on-call of a schedule, everyone with a team role, or a specific user — plus the channels to use. Copy the order and timings from PagerDuty.

  4. Connect SMS and voice

    Add your Twilio account (SMS and calls) or Vonage account (SMS), choose which channels each severity uses, and send yourself a test SMS and a test call.

  5. Re-point alert sources

    Create an integration per source. Each gets its own URL, https://oncallz.com/api/ingest/{routingKey}. Add it as a webhook in your monitoring tool. Oncallz reads Events API v2-style fields (event_action, dedup_key, payload.summary, payload.severity), so payloads you already send to PagerDuty often need little change. A tool's built-in "PagerDuty" integration posts to PagerDuty itself, so use that tool's generic webhook option instead.

  6. Run both, then switch off

    Send alerts to both tools for a week or two. When every team has been paged and acknowledged in Oncallz, remove the PagerDuty routes.

Who should switch — and who should not

Oncallz is a good fit if

  • You mainly use PagerDuty for schedules, escalations and phone/SMS paging.
  • Your alert sources can send a webhook (most monitoring tools can).
  • You want one flat price with no tiers to climb.
  • You are happy to use your own Twilio or Vonage account for SMS and calls.
  • Your team works in Turkish as well as English.

Stay with PagerDuty if

  • You rely on AIOps, event orchestration or runbook automation.
  • You depend on many native, vendor-built integrations rather than webhooks.
  • You need SSO/SAML, a contractual SLA or vendor certifications for procurement.
  • You want SMS and calls included without managing a carrier account.
  • Your responders need an Android app today (ours is in closed beta).
  • You are 5 people or fewer with low alert volume — PagerDuty's free plan may be enough.

Is Oncallz a full replacement for PagerDuty?

Are SMS and phone calls included in the $4?

Can I import my PagerDuty schedules and escalation policies?

Not automatically. There is no PagerDuty importer, so you recreate schedules and escalation policies in Oncallz. Schedules and participants can be created through the REST API if you want to script it.

Will my monitoring tools work with Oncallz?

Any tool that can send a JSON webhook works. Each integration gets its own URL, Oncallz detects the title and severity from common fields, and Graylog and New Relic have built-in handling, including auto-resolve for New Relic.

Can I try Oncallz before paying?
