Microsoft Teams integration
Post Oncallz incidents to a Microsoft Teams channel
Each Oncallz team can post incident updates to Microsoft Teams channels as Adaptive Cards through a Teams Workflows webhook. Cards show severity, status, who acted, the AI analysis when available, and a button to open the incident.
Connect Microsoft Teams to an Oncallz team in a few minutes
- 1 In Microsoft Teams, open Workflows and start from the "Send webhook alerts to a channel" template. Choose the team and channel, save, and copy the webhook URL shown on the details page.
- 2 Oncallz sends the Adaptive Card itself as the request body. Check that the flow's "Post card in a chat or channel" step uses the request body as the card; if your template loops over an attachments list instead, point the step at the body.
- 3 In Oncallz, open Teams, select the team and find Chat notifications (visible to team leads).
- 4 Choose Microsoft Teams as the destination, give it a name, paste the workflow URL, tick the events to post and click Add notification.
- 5 Trigger a test incident through one of the team's integrations and check that the card appears in the channel.
What does the Teams card contain?
A coloured header for the event (red for triggered, amber for acknowledged, orange for escalated, green for resolved), the incident title and description, and a fact list.
- Team, severity and status, plus acknowledged by and resolved by once someone has acted.
- The AI analysis when AI investigation ran with your own provider key: summary, probable cause, suggested action and confidence.
- A View incident button that opens the incident in Oncallz.
Which webhook URLs work?
Oncallz recognises Teams Workflows URLs (webhook.office.com) and Power Automate or Power Platform flow URLs (powerplatform.com, logic.azure.com), and formats the message as a Teams card for them.
Old Office 365 connector URLs will not work: according to the Microsoft 365 Developer Blog, connectors in Teams were switched off between 18 and 22 May 2026 (as of September 2026). Use a Workflows URL.
Which events can be posted?
Incident triggered, acknowledged, escalated and resolved, chosen per channel. Notifications belong to a team, so a channel only receives that team's incidents.
Admins can add an organisation-wide webhook under Settings → Webhooks with a Teams URL; it can also post "Schedule override created" cards showing who covers whom and when.
Is this a two-way Teams bot?
No. Oncallz posts cards to the channel; there is no bot to chat with and no acknowledge or resolve button inside Teams. Responders act from the Oncallz web app, the iOS app or the phone call keypad, and the next card shows who did it.
Failed deliveries are retried with back-off, up to five attempts, and paging never waits on Teams.
Frequently asked questions
Does Oncallz work with the new Teams Workflows webhooks?
Yes. Oncallz sends an Adaptive Card, the format Teams Workflows expect, to any Workflows or Power Automate webhook URL.
Create the webhook from the "Send webhook alerts to a channel" template, make sure the post step uses the request body as the card, and paste the URL into the team's chat notifications in Oncallz.
Can I acknowledge an incident from Microsoft Teams?
No. The integration only posts cards; the card's button opens the incident in Oncallz, where you can acknowledge or resolve it. You can also acknowledge from the push notification, the iOS app or by pressing a key during the phone call.
The next card in the channel shows who acknowledged the incident.
Why did my workflow fail with an Adaptive Card error?
The post step probably expects a different shape. Oncallz sends the Adaptive Card at the root of the request body, not wrapped in a message with an attachments list.
Set the "Post card in a chat or channel" step's card field to the trigger body, or remove a loop over attachments, then send a test incident again.
Can Teams and Slack be used together?
Yes. Each team can have any mix of Slack and Microsoft Teams chat notifications, each with its own events. That helps when engineering lives in Slack but operations or management follow incidents in Teams. Both are included in the single Oncallz plan at no extra cost.
